Drop-off and Pick-Up

Hug and Go

Our Hug N’ Go lane is located at the front of the school between the sidewalk and parking lot. Please know that this lane is intended for quick drop off and pick up. We ask that parents utilizing the Hug and Go lane stay in their car and to have their student exit and enter the car quickly.

If you wish to park and walk your student, please utilize the parking spaces outside of the Staff Parking Lot.

We appreciate your support in keeping this procedure running smoothly and safely.

Please Do

Slow Down

Keep your speed under 5 mph while driving in the lane.

Be Aware

Drop-off and pick-up times can get hectic. Yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.

Exit/Enter On The Right Hand Side

Have your child exit/enter on the passenger side of your vehicle. This keeps them safer and allows better traffic flow.

Use Your Signals

Let other drivers know your intentions by using your turn signals when getting in and out of lanes.

Be Courteous

Courtesy is contagious. Extend kindness to SMES Staff, fellow drivers, and pedestrians!

Please Do Not

Don’t Use Cell Phones

Using phones while driving makes us 23% more likely to be involved in an accident.

Don’t Drive Aggressively

Hostile driving shortens reaction time, making it harder to be cautious in a busy situation.

Don’t Idle Your Engine

When at all possible, turn off your engine while waiting for your students. Help protect kids from harmful emissions.

Don’t Get Out Of Your Vehicle

Doing so blocks and slows down traffic as well as puts yourself at risk of injury
